Having created your seller account, it’s high time you created gigs to show fiverr community what you can offer.
What is a gig on fiverr?
Gig on fiverr can be referred to as services a seller renders. A gig contains in details the type of service rendered. When a buyer goes through a sellers gig, how detailed the services the gig represent is determines whether the buyer will buy the gig or not. One secret to getting jobs consistently on fiverr is creating clear and concise gig detail.
People message me and say “I have open an account, created a gig but no job yet, what’s happening?” The truth is there are little mistakes we make while creating our gigs that makes it hard for us to get a job on fiverr. Some of this mistakes are
- Directly copying someone else’s gig details (copy and paste)
- Copying gig title
- Gig plans being too expensive (for newbies)
- Not well written gig details.
Directly copying someone else’s gig details: copying and pasting is against fiverr terms of service, that is why they have an algorithm in place which either pause such gigs automatically or penalize the entire account. The truth is, getting a job with such a gig can be difficult. Gigs with unique details get the most sales. The same applies to gig title.
Gig plans being too expensive: For top sellers on fiverr this point is irrelevant, however, to new sellers with no review, you need to create your gigs a little cheaper just for a short time until you get at least 5 reviews. The reason why you won’t get a job yet is that your services have not been tested and proven excellent. This is the hardest part for most, getting their first job.
How to create a killer gig
Step 1: login to your account, then navigate to selling > gigs. You will see a screen like the one in the picture. Click the create gig option to begin the process.
Step 2: under the overview tab, you are expected to input details such as
- Gig title
- Choose a category
- Gig metadata
- Search tags
Gig title: Coin out a unique gig title for your gig, copying and pasting won’t take you anywhere. Example of gig title “I will proofread and edit your document in 24 hours.”
Choose a category: you have to choose a category your service falls into. Wrongly selecting this will take your gig to a different service group.
Gig metadata: under this option, you will have to select the language you write in. This option differs depending on the services.
Search tags: search tags are essential, they help buyers locate your gig faster. You boost your search presence; you should use words related to the services you do. For example, for an article writer, you can use tags like blog post, article writing, etc.
Step 3: Scope and pricing. In this section, you are to set the prices at which you intend to deliver your services. You have 3 gig extras the basic, standard and premium. While creating this gig extra, ensure the 3 gig plans are different not only in their prices but also in the added services you deliver in each. Here is a sample of a gig. (gig link).
Step 4: Description & FAQ: your gig description matters a lot, a bad gig description will result in low sales also copying and pasting someone else’s gig details can harm your account. Instead of plagiarizing, you can copy then rewrite before use.
Step 5: Requirement. This is majorly the details you need from a buyer before work commence. Example, for article writing, you will need the topic before you start writing.
Step 6: Gallery: here you are expected to upload a clean picture that describes the service you offer. You have an option of uploading videos, a sample of your work and more.
